October 28 and 29, 2010 brought the exciting and enlightening first Male Student Success Conference to College of Lake County. Day one of the conference was attended by over 250 high students, 92 CLC students and over 40 CLC faculty and staff. Day two of the conference saw over 250 adult representatives from more than ten institutions of higher learning from surrounding CLC districts.
One of the key presenters from the conference was Dr. Tyrone Bledsoe, Founder and Executive Director for the Student African American Brotherhood, (SAAB). Dr. Bledsoe shared an inspiring video about the plight of Black men and boys in the United States. The video is intended to engage and inspire a national conversation about the plight of young black men. The video is also intended to encourage us to reach out to the young men in need.
The video titled, BRING YOUR 'A' GAME can be viewed by clicking on the movie title.
If you would like to get involved at College of Lake County, attend the student group meeting titled Men of Vision which meets on Mondays in room A261 from noon to 1:00. The advisor for Men of Vision is Dr. Eric Rogers. Dr. Roger may be contacted by phone at 847.543.2930.
