Kathleen's Film Festival Picks

The Lake County Film Festival has arrived at the College of Lake County. There are so many options for viewings, it is difficult to know where to begin. There are even free showings of some excellent, well heeled films in the "Cinema Obscura" venue, including Mithlothia, Captain Blasto, and last year's award winning short films. With that in mind, the film festival website offers a tool for online viewing of the program and developing a schedule.

If you prefer serendipity, do not hesitate to simply arrive at the festival and make your choices on the spot. There are so many excellent choices that one cannot be disappointed!

The most exciting aspect of the festival, now in its 5th year, is the opportunity to see new films and meet talented upcoming filmakers in person.

In eager anticipation, I have my plan in mind, but am sure it will undergo changes once I catch the buzz of the festival.

These are my picks:
The Half Life of Mason Lake
The Last Stop for Paul
Beyond the Call
A Thousand Hills
Shadow of the House
Indestructivle
An Alternative to Slitting Your Wrist
L'estate d'inverno
Shut Eye
El Violin
