The Temptation

Teachers fight the battle. Students fight the temptation.

Either way, plagiarism is tainted territory.

How can you prevent it? What kind of assignment would act as an obstacle?

Here are three tips, offered by the Murphy librarians to combat the occurrence of plagiarism:

1) preview resources with students before approving the topic
2) have students turn in a website evaluation form for every website used
3) have students tell WHY they chose the sources that they used

Plagiarism can be a tricky concept for students.
Drew University provides some good examples of unintentional plagiarism.

Show these to your students. Start the conversation.
